ARTIST PROOF EVENT @ SULLIVAN ROOM, NYC

Artist Proof recently held a gallery event on Aug. 15th at Sullivan Room in New York City, showcasing a sneak preview of the initial season of the brand, as well as showing a gallery exhibition from established artists all over the world. It was bananas!! The exhibition was of Sharky, our brand mascot, and each artist gave their unique individual rendition of the Sharky toy. Each toy was a customized one-of-a-kind piece. It was amazing to see how detailed the toys looked up close. We had people from Complex and Frank 151 magazines on hand to show their support. Also Mimi from Plaztik mag came through and fell in love with the brand. Toyqube owner and Artist Proof creative director Keith Poon organized the event, bringing together the artists that he collaborates with on his toy designs. Overall, the event was a great success. Ocean Star Apparel, Inc. has announced the launch of the much anticipated Artist Proof Brand. AP Creative Director and proprietor of Toy Qube, Keith Poon has developed the “Brand Canvas” for popular artists from all over the world to collaborate on a limited edition basis. Also well known as the designer ofboth Sharkey and Kanser collectible Vinyl toys, Poon has collaborated on projects with Futura Laboratories and 360ToyGroup and has been featured in numerous publications including MILK(Hong Kong), Playtimes Magazine(Singapore), Clutter Magazine(UK) and Hi Fructose in the US.

Artist Proof will begin to distribute to select better specialty and chain stores for the Holiday 2008 season.

In it’s first collaboration, Artist Proof has teamed up with Lucas Irwin, AKA “Filth”. A Brooklyn based artist and designer, Lucas helped to create ReadyMade Magazine and served as its art director for 2 years. During his time there, ReadyMade was nominated for countless design awards and was voted “best new magazine” of the year by Rolling Stone.

Lucas Irwin has been involved with “designer” toy leader, kidrobot, since the company’s inception. It is a little known fact that Kidrobot’s first office was actually a sublet corner of his old studio space. During his ongoing relationship with Kidrobot, Lucas co-created its iconic logo, as well as designed packaging, toys, clothing, advertising campaigns and marketing materials.
The initial collection consists of Tees, French Terry Hoods & Crewnecks, Tricot Jackets, Denim and Sweaters.
